Two years ago I had a gastric bypass operation in a desperate bid to lose weight. It worked in the short-term, but after a while the weight loss stopped and I fell back into my old eating habits.
One day my wife, Susan suggested trying Slimming World to help us lose weight. We’ve been Slimming World members for 11 weeks and I’m so happy and feel so healthy. I’ve lost 20lbs and Susan’s lost 22lbs. We both now eat a lot more healthily with plenty of fruit and vegetables. During my first week I tucked into three huge meals a day including a big weekend breakfast of Canadian bacon, tomatoes, dry-fried eggs and wholewheat toast. Whenever I was hungry I snacked on big bowls of homemade vegetable soup. To say I ate ‘non-stop’ is an understatement and I lost a fantastic 4lbs!
When I told my husband he couldn’t believe I’d lost all that as every time I sat down to eat he’d say, “Surely you can’t eat all of that?” and I’d always reply with, “Just you watch me!” The following week I lost another 3lbs which really spurred me on!
The following week my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a romantic Food Optimising meal. We opened the champagne and enjoyed an indulgent chocolate mousse made with delicious raspberries (and my husband didn’t have a clue it was ‘diet’ food!)

I can’t wait till graduation
Being a student and away from my mom's healthy cooking, I found it so easy to pile on the pounds.
Lots of drinking beer and cocktails and then eating fast-food on the way home soon started to become a habit. I was eating frozen pizzas, TV dinners, and regular takeouts because it was cheap and convenient! I ate nothing fresh or healthy and two years went by before I even realized how much weight I was putting on!
Coming home for that second summer was a nightmare. I was stretching out of my clothes and I could see everyone was shocked by my weight gain. My sister suggested we tried Slimming World – it opened up a whole new world!
I've discovered I can eat my favorite foods in healthy proportions. Being a vegetarian, I thought it would mean living on salad - how wrong I was!
I've already started losing weight and I’m well on my way to my first 10lbs. I can’t wait to dazzle my college friends with the new, slimmer me and I’ll hopefully be half the girl I am by graduation!

Zumba fun for Sian
I’ve always been the one taking the photographs and would hide behind the camera, ashamed of how I look.
I’d had enough of being overweight and unhealthy, so I decided to join Slimming World and do something about my weight, confidence, and health.
In my first month at Slimming World I lost 15lbs and decided to join the gym for a Body Magic boost. I took it easy at first and started working towards my Bronze Body Magic award with a slow walk on the treadmill or a gentle ride on the bikes. As I lost weight, my fitness increased, and within a year I’d lost over 80lbs!
Last year, I found my new passion – Zumba. I became a Zumba addict and before I knew it I was ‘Zumba-ing’ everywhere I went. In April, I took my Zumba instructor’s course and I’m now a qualified Zumba teacher and have three classes of my own.
I’ve been a target member for over a year and I’d like to thank Slimming World for giving me the life I’ve always wanted.

Louise is lighting up the room
I’m about to hit my 'halfway to target' point and feel so grateful to Slimming World. I’ve lost 52lbs so far thanks to the amazing Food Optimising plan. I just love it and don’t feel like I'm even on a ‘diet’!
It’s my little boy’s second birthday in two weeks and my dad is coming to visit us. He doesn’t know that I’ve been losing weight and I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he walks though the door and hugs the slimmer and happier me!
